We don’t hear too much about when Jesus was a teenager. We know that when he was around 12 years old his parents lost him and they found him a couple of days later preaching before the elders in the temple. He said to them “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house” Luke 2:49. What a brave 12 year old to go before elders and try to teach them the truth. Luke 2:52 is a very important verse here at Deer Creek Camp, one of the CORE values. This verse talks about living the “4 square life”. “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man” Luke 2:52. All of these things must be balanced in our lives. What if we spend a lot of time with our friends and not enough time studying or if we are too worried about school and lose focus on God? Our life because out of balanced. We are to strive to be more like Christ. He kept these things balanced in his life, and we must try to do the same thing. Each one of these things is important when we are growing up. We need the right amount of all 4. Throughout the week we will continue to learn more CORE values from Papa Bear at Jump Start and in that growing in our wisdom, stature, favor with God and with man.
