“Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches” (1 Corinthians 7:17). Lead the life that the Lord has assigned to us. It is strange for me to think that my life has been assigned to me. It makes me realize just how big our God is. He has a plan for our lives even when we think we are so lost. Whenever I was completing my last semester of college I was trying to make up my mind what to do with my life. I knew that my grades weren’t the best and I didn’t have any job prospects. I had planned to stay in College Station another semester, find a job, and do some writing until I could move up north to work for a publishing company. Well let’s just say God had other plans. About a week before I took my last finals of college I felt the Lord calling me back to San Antonio. I called my mom and had a long talk with her about what I should do. She told me that I would be able to live at home until I found a job. I knew my parents would be supporting but I still had no idea what I was going to do. It wasn’t until after I had moved back home after graduation that I received a phone call from Papa Bear. He simply asked me to come out to camp and talk through the possibility of me doing some work. Once I made it out to camp it was hard for me to leave. In the first year of me working full time at Deer Creek I had grown and learned more about myself, the camping industry, and my walk with Christ then I had ever imagined. God does have a plan and He calls us to a certain life. We have to be able to trust that His plan is perfect. If we try to go against His plan and the life that He has assigned for us, we are going against Him. I think we all can attest that when we try to do things on our own or think that we know better, it always falls apart. Have faith and embrace the life that you are called to.
