Rain or Shine

What an eventful day it was at camp! The theme of the day was Neon day, so campers and counselors showed up to Breakfast shining bright. In Bible Study we learned what sin is (Self Indulgent Nature).

Karl talked to us about 4:29 at Jump Start today. 4:29 comes from Ephesians 4:29, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” We like to keep each other accountable when we speak to make sure we are not rude or say hurtful things. He also used the story of Barnabas as an example.

In Bear Comp, all tribes played their hearts out and exuded tribe spirit. We played Human Tic-Tac-Toe, Arena Soccer, O-Ball, and Bear Brawl. Then it was off to Specialties!

The photography lesson today was still life. They learned how to take photos of still objects before moving on to action photos. Speed and Agility ran ladders and in Disk Sports, they practiced their tomahawk throws.

During FOB the rain hit. It was pouring for the rest of the afternoon so our High Rope activities were put on hold for the day, but have no fear, there was still fun to be had. All the cabins performed skits in the Great Hall about how their cabins got their name. Afterwards we had a pool party in the rain.

After shower time we got ready to join the DCC Justice League. With capes and masks donned, campers poured on to the patio another one of Alma’s specialties, homemade lasagna. After dinner each cabin received our list of tasks to prepare us all to be super heroes. When everyone completed their training we danced the night away in the Barn Swing…or at least until Team Meeting.

Papa Bear delved deeper into the meaning of sin tonight at Team Meeting. He emphasized the word “indulgence”. When we sin, we indulge ourselves in wrong decisions. It’s like we stuck our hands in black paint and every time we sinned or encouraged a friend to sin, the black paint spread. We indulged our hands in that black paint. But there is hope. There is one person that can clean us of that black paint – of our sins. We will find out who that is and how he does that tomorrow
