Super Tuesday!

What a beautiful and eventful day it was at camp! The sun was shining and the wind was blowing. The theme of the day was Nerd day, so campers and counselors tucked their shirts into their shorts, wore socks with sandals, and taped their classes. In Bible Study we learned what sin is (Self Indulgent Nature).

Papa Bear talked to us about 4:29 at Jump Start today. 4:29 comes from Ephesians 4:29, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” We like to keep each other accountable when we speak to make sure we are not rude or say hurtful things.

In Bear Comp, all tribes played their hearts out and exuded tribe spirit. Spartan Ball and Arena Soccer are some of our new Bear Comp games this summer. Everyone had a blast! Then it was off to Specialties!

The photography lesson today was still life. They learned how to take photos of still objects before moving on to action photos. Speed and Agility ran ladders and Soccer played World Cup and practiced shooting.

For Activity rotation it was quite the competition when the campers were introduced to Archery Tag, don’t worry it is as fun as it sounds. Sarita Casita and Trinity’s Treehouse did the Climbing Wall and Zipline before heading to the river with the rest of Girls Camp. Boy’s Camp had swim time at the pool where they had a blast wrestling, throwing balls, and jumping off the diving board.

After shower time we got ready to join the DCC Justice League. With capes and masks donned, campers poured on to the patio another one of Alma’s specialties, homemade lasagna. After dinner each cabin received our list of tasks to prepare us all to be super heroes. When everyone completed their training we danced the night away in the Barn Swing…or at least until Team Meeting.

Papa Bear delved deeper into the meaning of sin tonight at Team Meeting. He emphasized the word “indulgence”. When we sin, we indulge ourselves in wrong decisions. It’s like we stuck our hands in black paint and every time we sinned or encouraged a friend to sin, the black paint spread. We indulged our hands in that black paint. But there is hope. There is one person that can clean us of that black paint – of our sins. We will find out who that is and how he does that tomorrow
