It is the little joys in this life that make us really appreciate the life that we’ve been given. I was reminded of this last night. This week is a very important week at camp because it is a week that we have opened our home to Camp Barnabas from Missouri. With 14 leadership staff, 48 CIAs and volunteers, we welcomed 52 campers with special needs on Sunday evening. It is a great joy for us to be able to share this camp with our dear friends and these precious children of God. We have learned to slow things down and find joy in the little things. Last night during our night time wrap up, one of our downs syndrome campers, Jake, was up on the stage singing worship. He had his eyes closed and his face lifted up to Heaven. His hands were outstretched and he was singing with his whole heart. Praise the Lord for an incredible example of a childlike faith. “Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when He appears we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who thus hopes in Him purifies himself as He is pure” (1 John 3:2-3). It is in those little moments, those little joys, that we see Christ shining through. There is not a more beautiful sight in all this world then watching a child worship his Heavenly Father. I am thankful this morning for the little joys and encourage you to do the same. Find those little joys today and share that joy with others.
