Cultivating a circle of love and growth

For those unfamiliar, allow us to paint a picture of this beautiful model that has brought so much joy and growth to our camp community.

At DCC, we believe in the power of pouring into one another's lives, fostering a sense of family and growth within our camp community. In this heartfelt model, lovingly referred to as "Camp Fams," our cherished leader, affectionately known as "Pops" (or Coach or Dad), devotes his time to nurturing the staff who live and lead here at camp.

But that's not all! Last year, we introduced an extraordinary concept – each of the 4 Sanders/Cone families extends their arms and hearts to adopt 6-8 summer staff members. Together, they form these wonderful Camp Fams, a small group where we share meals, pray together, and intentionally invest in each other's lives.

And here's the most exciting part - this year, we're adding a new dimension to Camp Fams: discipleship. Leading up to camp, we've already kicked off Zoom meetings, igniting a spark of growth and connection within our Camp Fams.

As our campers complete their weeks of adventure and fun at DCC this summer, they'll have the incredible opportunity to continue their journey through ongoing discipleship. Our dedicated DCC counselors will lead these sessions via Zoom in the fall and spring, embracing the timeless wisdom of II Timothy 2:2, where Paul encourages us to pour into faithful men and women, who, in turn, will pour into others.

With hearts brimming with hope and love, we walk hand in hand towards a future filled with growth, learning, and the joy of genuine connections. Camp Fams – the embodiment of a warm, loving, and hope-filled community where each person's light can shine brightly and inspire others.

Here's to a summer and beyond, where Camp Fams flourish, and the spirit of growth and transformation touches each and every heart.
